Update

Well I never posted on the day I said I would. I have a problem with commitment...oops. Anyway, to recap...I am hitting the gym about 3 times per week. I'd love it to be 4, so I am slowly working on that. However, and this is a confession...my eating sucks. Big time. I track intermittently, and I have "treats" way more often than I should.

So I have made the time for exercise, but not so much for proper food, and food is soooo essential when doing weight loss. I could work out all I want, but if I'm having take out 3 times a day, that ain't gonna matter too much.

A lot of it goes back to my old nemesis time, but that is also an excuse to eat the food that I still really enjoy. However, I don't know how much of it is enjoyment, or addiction. I have some serious hang ups about food that are not being resolved. I think it's almost time I take a good look at the benefits package I have and see if counselling is covered. In the New Year perhaps, not to bring in resolutions here (as a rule I don't really do resolutions).

On another note, I have my first personal training session next week, and this next bit is going to be a bit of a rant. I've had PT before...several times in fact. It's great. If it wasn't so damn expensive, I'd do it more often. Anyway, when I signed up at Goodlife I explained to the girl that I have an insane schedule, and that I could only commit to PT once per week. Since I work freelance 3-4 times per week, this was all I could commit to. She said fine. In order to fulfill the contract, I would have to finish my sessions within 6 weeks. 6 sessions...once per week...6 weeks. Easy.

I get a call from the PT manager and I remind her that I can only do once per week. She starts going on about how it's really supposed to be twice per week. Excuse me, a) these are supposed to be customized for me and my schedule, and b) this is what I was promised when I joined. Then she told me that it's for my benefit (which I don't deny), to help get me into the gym and set up a routine. I asked her, did you even read my file? I am not new to fitness, nor to PT. Did you read the notes that mentioned my schedule and my desire for once per week? Obviously not. That conversation ends and a couple days later I get a call from a personal trainer. She also starts going on about it being twice per week. I understand that it's for maximum results, but I'm not looking for the fast and the furious right now. I want a routine that I can do on my own, designed for my goals and body. I know enough to take it away and tweak it as needed.

She basically told me that if I only do it once per week that'd it be a waste of time, and that I shouldn't expect results and that if I didn't do it her way, there is no way I'd be successful. I realise I am chubby now, and have gained some weight back, but I did not lose 40lbs by accident. I told her that this wasn't going to work out and the next time I went to the gym I lodged a complaint. I don't want to be treated that way for a service that is supposed to be fit to me, and something that I paid a lot of money for!

I got a resolution with the gym person, and agreed to try another trainer. An experienced one who is just starting at my club. I reiterated to the PT manager again my schedule conflicts. What happens? The new personal trainer calls me and I have to go through the EXACT same thing with her! C'mon people!! You are providing a service that is supposed to be customizable...stop trying to put me in the box that everyone else is in! I know it's all about sales. They just want me done faster. That's BS and bad customer service. I'm paying you...you have to give me what I want. I work in sales and customer service...if my students come to me unhappy, I don't tell them that the only way they are going to learn English is to do my plan for them. I may advise them of a certain plan, but if that's not what they want, then so be it.

Rant over, but every time I talk to them I get mad all over again. Right when you think everyone is on the same page something else happens. Didn't put a good spin on my afternoon today.

On a lighter note...I did a killer like 1.5 hr work out today. Back to my Jillian Michaels Hot Bod in a Box (seriously, totally recommend, killer), and day 1 of week 3 of Couch to 5K. Just about died, and now I can't go up or down stairs, or you know, move :)

Then I had grilled talapia, veggies, and small potato for dinner, so I'm feeling good.

Now to focus on making the time for food...that's my next challenge.....have a good one!
